Twenty-five-year-old Yvonne Moran from Mulranny who tragically lost her life this week following a two car road traffic collision was laid to rest on Thursday in Kileen Cemetery.
The young garda was a front-seat passenger in a car which collided with another vehicle being driven by a French national at Rosgalive, Mulranny on Sunday night. Both drivers and Ms Moran were brought to Mayo General Hospital following the accident, however Ms Moran passed away on Monday. The injuries sustained by the other casualties are said to be non-life-threatening.
A French national was charged yesterday with dangerous driving causing death at Westport District Court yesterday (September 18 ) in relation to the incident. The man was released on bail to appear at the same court on November 6, a condition of his bail is that he must sign on at Westport Garda station weekly.
