It also features details of this year’s Culture Night celebrations on Friday, September 23rd. Mark your calendars!

Outwest Jazzy Evening, is a wine bar style evening of live jazz by Queen Street Ensemble, hosted by Mayo’s LGBTQI+ community and allies will be held on Friday, September 16 in the Linenhall Foyer.

The Queen Street Ensemble, a West of Ireland-based jazz foursome, encompasses vocalist Sarah O’Toole, Liam Carr on piano, John O’Dwyer on double bass, with Brendan Jones on drums. Playing a vast repertoire of standards, from ballads to Bossanova, they revel in performing hidden gems from the American songbook, as well as jazzed up versions of more contemporary tunes.

There’s more music in the form of Aidan Hynes and Teresa Burke, otherwise known as ‘LannaghBlue’ that take to the Linenhall stage on Wednesday, September 21. This duo have performed together for many years and will share their new album, Prodigal, with local audiences. Featured tracks include a mix of ballad, blues and pop written during the pandemic when live gigs ceased. LannaghBlue collaborated with musicians Dervilla Hynes, Benjamin Fox and Stephen Fox in the creation of Prodigal.

A four week writing workshop opportunity, ‘Filling in the Blanks’ with Jean Tuomey commences on Tuesday, September 20. If you’re a budding writer, yet feel deterred by a blank page, this course provides the exercises and encouragement to get the ink flowing. Focusing on poetry, memoir and fiction, it is suitable for beginners, and those who write but are in need of a creative booster. Tickets for all live Linenhall events and workshops are available at www.thelinenhall.com or by calling box office on (094 ) 9023733.
