The disappearance of Sandra Collins will feature in the second series of Marú Inár Measc, a four-part true crime documentary series by Midas Productions for TG4, which shines a light on the effect that fatal crimes have on society, local communities and on victims' families as they are left without answers.

The first episode of the new season, airing on TG4 on May 18 at 9.45pm, will feature the family of Sandra Collins who went missing on December 4, 2000.

Sandra Collins left her aunt’s house in Killala, to get the dinner in the local grocery shop. She never returned home. Despite the relentless efforts of authorities, the community, and her family to unearth what happened that night, her disappearance remains shrouded in mystery, and the search for her continues, unabated, to this day.

A cold case reinvestigation began in summer 2010 and reclassified Sandra’s disappearance as a murder investigation. In 2014 a local man went on trial for Sandra’s murder, however the judge ruled that there was not sufficient evidence to find him guilty. To this day no one has been convicted of Sandra’s murder and her brothers and sisters hope that they can one day lay her to rest and find their own peace.

This documentary includes interviews with Sandra’s four siblings, who give deeply personal accounts regarding the life that their sister lived and how her disappearance has impacted them.

This series blends observational documentary with key testimonies from those who continue to be deeply affected by the tragedy. Each documentary shows how the bereaved families and the communities continue with their lives and fight for justice to keep the cases alive and in the public eye.

These deeply personal accounts capture the human impact of these crimes, on family, and on the entire community. This series could not have been made without the co-operation of each family who shared their story and allowed the documentary makers the privilege of filming with them.

Including interviews with gardaí who were close to the case; those first on the scene and those who interviewed perpetrators at the time, the series features extremely personal interviews with family members and friends of murder victims as they continue to fight for justice.

Marú inár Measc is narrated by Doireann Ní Bhriain.
