Dillon welcomes apprenticeship funding of €556,875

Fine Gael TD for Mayo, Alan Dillon, has welcomed confirmation of apprenticeship funding worth over half a million euro from Further and Higher Education Minister, Simon Harris TD.

Apprenticeship funding totalling €556,875 has been allocated to Mayo, Sligo & Leitrim ETB. This is additional funding to address the impact of Covid-19 on the delivery of apprenticeships. The funding will be delivered in two streams with funding of €406,875 for Electrical Instrumentation and a further €150,000 for Electrical apprenticeships.

Deputy Dillon said: "Minister Harris has strongly outlined in the past that apprenticeships are a huge priority for him and the Government.

"In September, Minister Harris will be updating Government on plans to increase visibility of apprenticeships for school-leavers as part of the CAO reform work.

"In the interim, it is great to see significant funding of over half a million euro being put into Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim ETB. The funding will be used to specifically address the impact of Covid-19 on the delivery of apprenticeships."
