€28,602 for three Mayo heritage projects

Michael Ring, TD, has welcomed the approval of grants for three heritage projects in Mayo under a new Community Monuments Fund from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.

The Community Monuments Fund supports the conservation, maintenance, protection and promotion of local monuments and historic sites.

Funding is available in three different streams to include: (1 ) funding for essential repairs and capital works for the conservation of archaeological monuments; (2 ) funding for development of Conservation Management Plans/Reports aimed at identifying measures for conservation of monuments and improved public access and (3 ) funding for enhancement of access infrastructure and interpretation at archaeological monuments (including Covid 19 protection measures ).

The projects approved in County Mayo are as follows: (1 ) €6,727 for Old Killeen Graveyard, Attymass; (2 ) €12,740 for Kill Abbey, Shrule and (3 ) €9,135 for Kilmovee Heritage Trail.
