Chambers appointed Fianna Fáil Group Leader in Seanad Éireann

Fianna Fáil Senator Lisa Chambers has expressed her delight at becoming Deputy Leader of Seanad Éireann and Fianna Fáil Group Leader in the Upper House.

Seanad Éireann met on Monday afternoon in Dublin’s Convention Centre in its first meeting following the Seanad general election.

Senator Chambers said on Monday: "I am delighted to be appointed Leader of the Fianna Fáil group in Seanad Éireann by An Taoiseach Micheál Martin TD. It is an immense privilege to sign the roll and attend the first sitting of the current Seanad today.

"As Deputy Leader of the Seanad I look forward to working with my party colleagues and others to ensure the highest scrutiny is given to legislation over the next five years as the Programme for Government is implemented.

"The unprecedented global pandemic has not gone away. Today, as more businesses begin to open, it only highlights the need for legislation and leadership for every town and village rebuilding following the public health measures which closed so much of our economy."
