A large number of community organisations have stepped up to the plate to help out those in need during the Covid-19 outbreak - in this weeks Community Diary we have listed a number of htem.

Older People's Register

An Garda Siochana are always endeavouring to update their ‘Older People’s Register’ locally in each station which they have been adding to over the last number of years. If you or a family member wishes to be added to this please email your name/address with postcode/contact number to: [email protected] or call (094 ) 9038200.

Castlebar Meals on Wheels

One of the main services they offer in Castlebar Social Services is the provision of meals on wheels. They provide this service daily, 365 days a year including Christmas. The charge is €5 for three course meal. You can choose to have a meal 1 day per week or 7, whichever suits your personal situation. A typical meal provided to a participant consists of a starter of soup, main course and dessert. All meals are prepared in house, and consist of the highest quality ingredients with all our meals being nutritionally beneficial. Ballina Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels Ballina at Ballina Community Centre has been in existence since 1969. They provide the local meals on wheels service six days a week throughout the year. Contact them on (096 ) 21572.

Brickens Meals on Wheels

Brickens Meals on Wheels delivers hot dinners and dessert for €5, seven days a week if required. They deliver deliver Meals on Wheels to areas in Brickens, Bekan, Tulrahan, Claremorris, Facefield, Barnacarroll, Ballyfarnagh, Knock, Ballyhaunis, Aghamore, Kilkelly, Tooreen, Logboy and Irishtown. All of these townlands are within a radius of five miles. For more information contact (094 ) 938 0910.

Westport Meals on Wheels

Meals available for anyone who needs one. Just call (098 ) 25669 Monday to Friday 9am to 1pm. Meals costs €5, homemade soup, dinner and dessert.

St Vincent de Paul Castlebar

The St Vincent de Paul Shop in Castlebar will not be able to accept donations of clothing for the forthcoming few weeks due to the Corona virus outbreak, they can still be contacted on (094 ) 9023207 and donations can be made online at www.svp.ie

Westport Order of Malta

Westport Order of Malta are mobilising to support those who may need extra support, need to self-isolate or need to stay at home for various reasons. If you or anyone you know is affected and needs help in getting food, medication or household essentials collected, they can be contacted on (086 ) 2062571.

Neart Acla

Neart Acla are here to help. If you find yourself in need of assistance in the next couple of weeks let them know on Tel: 086 8544853 email [email protected] or by on their Facebook page. They community driven group and committee are available to do grocery shopping or medicinal runs for you or even if you find yourself stuck, confined or isolated in your own home we can even just arrange a daily phone call to keep in touch with you. If you live away and your parents or family members are here alone get in touch and we will help them out as much as possible day or night.

Belmullet GAA are here to help

These are difficult times for the community, and Belmullet Gaa are here to help. If anyone needs items collected such as groceries, medicines, essentials..etc please contact (086 ) 8031099, (087 ) 9823553 or (089 ) 4889586 and they will be happy to help in any way they can.

Order of Malta Belmullet/Erris

Order of Malta Belmullet/Erris are advising that you should get in touch if you know of anyone that may have difficulty getting food/medicine/household essentials, they will assist in collecting these items on your behalf. Call 087 7011540

Ballina Chamber of Commerce

If any members the community are self isolating, are alone in Ballina and around North Mayo and need help or assistance you can get in touch with the Ballina Tourist & Chamber Office. They are open and here to help. Chamber Members and Business Community will try assist you in any way. If you need to purchase essentials, our business community will take orders over the phone and in most cases deliver to your door. Call (096 ) 72800.

Bofeenaun/Laherdaun Community Alert

Castlebar Order of Malta

Order of Malta Castlebar are advising that you should get in touch if you know of anyone that may have difficulty getting food/medicine/household essentials, they will assist in collecting these items on your behalf. Available 24/7, call (087 ) 7074514

Castlebar Community Sports Project

Community is more important than ever. We all need to look out for one another, especially the elderly and vulnerable. So, if anyone needs anything, be it food or medicine, dropped off or collected, Castlebar Community Sports Project are looking to help. They are calling on EVERYONE in the community of Castlebar who is willing to help or who needs help, to drop a message to (086 ) 8392753 or direct message them to their social media networks and they will help coordinate the effort.

Breaffy GAA and Community Council

Members of the club and community have offered assistance or aid to anyone within the community who are older, vulnerable or isolated as a result of the Covid 19 virus. If you are away and are concerned about relatives or friends in the area please do not hesitate to get in touch. They would be happy to reach out and offer assistance or aid in any way we can. Charlestown Sarsfields GAA

Claremorris LGFA

Claremorris LGFA are aware of the potential hardship the recent situation regarding COVID-19 May bring to our community. You can contact their Facebook page if you require assistance with acquiring food, fuel and other necessities and they will be happy to help in any way we can.

Mayo LGFA

Mayo LGFA are ready, willing and able to help looking after the most vulnerable members in our community. Their squad and kit van are available for deliveries or to help in any way. You can get in touch by sending a private message on their Facebook and Twitter pages.

Knock

Knock Community Futures will be putting in place Community Volunteer Force to offer a delivery service and support service to those in the community who may be vulnerable, alone or self-isolating. As part of this process they would like to hear from members of the community in a position to volunteer. They are asking members of the public to get in contact with details of what times/days you are available to their Facebook page. Your name will then be put on their list for contact.

Grainne Uaile Triathlon Club

If anyone finds themselves needing help or assistance over the coming weeks, whether it’s needing shopping collected or fuel delivered you can get in contact by calling Tom on (085 ) 8672363 or Chris on (087 ) 2393286 or by messaging them on their Facebook page.

Straide Women’s Group

Straide Women’s Group is offering support to those that may need it. Maybe help with a grocery shop or a prescription collected? Or somebody to talk to or help with sources of up to date information? Westport United

Following from Friday's appeal for volunteers to help out during the COVID-19 pandemic, the club has received a great response from the public to help out and they are currently setting up a WhatsApp group to coordinate the volunteer effort and the club is truly indebted to all who put their names forward and many thanks to everyone.
