Do you want to take to the stage with Claremorris Musical Society?

It’s that time of year ago when Claremorris Musical Society (CMS ) begins preparations for yet another fantastic show to be staged in Claremorris Town Hall and Theatre from January 29 to February 1 next year.

This will be the society’s 14th annual production and the show choice for this season is the much loved musical comedy, Little Shop of Horrors. This horror/comedy/rock musical with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Howard Ashman, follows the story of a hapless florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood and flesh - in an aim to take over the world!

Throw in lots of laughs, fantastic song and dance routines, innocent Audrey - the love of Seymour’s life, a demented dentist and a larger-than-life man eating plant, and you have the makings of one hell of a show. The music, composed by Menken in the style of early 1960s rock and roll, doo-wop and early Motown, includes several well-known tunes, including the title song, "Little Shop of Horrors”, "Somewhere That's Green", and "Suddenly, Seymour".

CMS is delighted to have such a strong and experienced Production Team once again this year. The combined creative talents of musical director, Deirdre Lee, Director, Donna Ruane and choreographer Jay Molyneux, are a surefire recipe for success when it comes to staging this show. Chairperson Sophia Sheridan and the members of the ever hard-working CMS Committee, are busy behind the scenes preparing for what promises to be another fun filled and action packed musical season.

Open auditions for Little Shop of Horrors will take place on Sunday, September 15 in The Dalton Inn Hotel, Claremorris. Chorus auditions are from 2pm to 4pm with principal auditions starting at 5pm.

Those wishing to audition for a principal role should email [email protected] indicating which role they would like to audition for. They will then be sent an audition pack and a specific time slot for their audition on the day. The CMS Production Team and Committee members are looking forward to meeting lots of new and familiar faces for what is sure to be another fantastic CMS production.
