I want to make a positive impact - Walsh

Fine Gael candidate in next week's European Elections, Maria Walsh, has outlined her reasons for running for a seat in the Midlands North-West constituency saying that: "I am running because I want to make a positive impact in the Midlands North-West.

"A vibrant and inclusive Europe needs a healthy and growing rural Ireland. As an ambassador to Jigsaw Mental Health, I know the urgent requirements for support initiatives for our young people across all communities.

I have dedicated myself to activism that addresses social injustices. I have connected with community groups in every county in Ireland and advocated for the recognition of our Diaspora, women’s rights and LGBTQI inclusion.

"I want to make a difference in the Midlands North-West in Europe by working on securing business supports for all businesses, especially for those in the agri-food and tourism sectors across the Midlands North- West in particular, support for our young farmers.

"A European Year of Good Mental Health is needed advocating for every citizen in the constituency, I will ensure that every person should have access to local, specialized and comprehensive mental health services and will especially focus on prevention initiatives.

"I will support entrepreneurs to re-imagine and develop green initiatives that lead the way to our sustainable future."
