21st Century Web Design punching above its weight

A Castlebar based Mayo company is becoming a major player on the web. 21st Century Web Design has developed a sports software platform called eSports Manager. The software is used by 28 GAA County Boards, Leinster and Connaught Rugby, Ladies Gaelic and a few FAI leagues to manage their competitions, fixtures, results and communications. In 2009 Sports Manager will manage 1,800 competitions and over 33,000 fixtures in GAA alone. London GAA has just recently signed up.

21st Century Web Design was set up nine years ago as a sister company to 21st Century computer training. It is the largest web design company in Mayo with nine staff. As the company has grown and become more established it has begun to concentrate on more high-end web development. The company specialises in ecommerce, database, online shopping, and content managed sites. It has just recently finished a website for a multinational which will handle 3,000 products; a second website is being built exclusively for the US market.

21st Century has captured a large segment of the sports market. It has acquired its own servers, SMS short code text numbers, and ComReg approval, and is Enterprise Ireland approved. Recent sports websites designed by the company include GAA – Down, Roscommon, Laois; National Ladies Gaelic, Dublin Ladies Gaelic, Galway FA, and Mervue United. Coming soon is the Irish American Football League (IAFL ), Limerick GAA and Cork GAA.

Director Vivienne Kyne explains: “Brochure websites are becoming a thing of the past. Almost all our clients now want a website with a content management system so they can update their own site and keep their site looking fresh and up-to-the-minute.” Websites with CMS are now very affordable even for small businesses.

Recent web projects include Volex, Tonra multi-channel, Casey Cars, Beverly Hills Fashion, Gilroy Energy Services Sligo, iSiopa, Shannonside, and the Connaught Telegraph. 21st Century pride themselves on a no-nonsense approach with no technical jargon, no inflated solutions and no fuss. They believe a website should bring in sales, attract new business or make savings for a business.
