Summit to provide unique insight into opportunities in export industry

Export Summit 17 is a collaborative undertaking by the Local Enterprise Offices in the Western Region - Galway, Mayo and Roscommon - together the Western Development Commission and Údarás na Gaeltachta, which aims to facilitate businesses wishing to evaluate and access new export opportunities.

It is a unique one-day event being held in the Clayton hotel in Galway on November 9, giving businesses the opportunity to take a day away from the operational side of the business, to take a strategic look at export possibilities.

Breda Fox, head of enterprise with Local Enterprise Office Galway, outlined the importance of this event for any west of Ireland business considering immediate or eventual growth into overseas markets.

“This event is a wonderful opportunity for small and established businesses to meet experts and businesses that are successful in overseas markets," she commented. "It will help those attending on the day to gather the knowledge and information about the supports available to help them expand into ever-expanding and increasingly competitive overseas markets.”

This unique one-day event will incorporate a series of interactive workshops and presentations by expert keynote speakers to equip delegates with comprehensive information and advice to grow and develop a successful export business.

Keynote speakers on the day will include: Damien Costello, Synecco; James Murphy, Lifes2Good; and Colm Feeney of SSL Logistics, who will offer expert advice and support on how to maximise the potential of exporting.

The workshops are designed to ensure that attendees obtain as much information as possible to open up the world of exporting to their business as well as directing them to the additional support and services available.

Enterprise Ireland regional director, Barry Egan, who will be in attendance on the day, said: “Enterprise Ireland’s strategy aims to support more Irish companies with global ambition to achieve greater scale and expand their global footprint. The Export Summit-Local to Global will provide companies from across the West of Ireland with a valuable opportunity to examine the potential of a range of new markets and new strategies for growing their business. This is an important event in the region’s business calendar."
