Bolay exhibition runs until the end of the month in Westport

Custom House Studios at Westport Quay is hosting an exhibition of paintings by Veronica Bolay RHA entitled Pausing at a Crossroad every day until October 29.

The exhibition will include documentary film Become Invisible which was directed by Edward Costello. Told through the voices of poet and writer Ger Reidy and painter Veronica Bolay, Become Invisible explores the seductive and dramatic nature of Mayo when rural isolation and artistic pressure collide.

Veroncia Bolay was born in Hamburg, Germany, and moved to Dublin in 1971. Since 1974 she has made regular visits to Mayo and stays on Clare Island. In 1996 she moved to Westport.

Between 1974 and 2013 she has had more than 20 solo shows all over Ireland and has won numerous awards, including the Sean Keating Medal and the Louis Walsh award, as well as being invited for a residency at the Irish Cultural Centre in Paris.
