Three killed following tragic accident near Claremorris

Gardaí are investigating a fatal collision involving a car and a truck on the N17 Galway to Sligo Road at Lisduff near Claremorris which took place on Monday, September 11 at approximately 12:30pm.

The victims were named locally on Monday night as Marcella Wilson (in her 40s ), who lived in Belmullet, her seven-year old son, Sean, and her mother Mary Ann Wilson. The trio were believed to be have been travelling to Galway at the time of the accident.

All three  were pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver was uninjured was treated at the scene by the emergency services.  Traffic diversions were in place and forensic collision investigators attended the scene.  

A minutes silence was held at Monday's meeting of Mayo County Council in memory of the three people who lost their lives in the accident.
