An Taoiseach Enda Kenny T.D. has welcomed the announcement of €20,417,862 for Regional and Local Roads in Mayo in 2017. Taoiseach Kenny said “I welcome confirmation by my colleague, the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross T.D. that over €20 million will be invested in Regional and Local Roads in Mayo in 2017. This funding is part of a nationwide €324 million investment programme to maintain and strengthen our regional road network.”

The Taoiseach said,  “I am pleased to see a number of Mayo projects awarded funding for 2017 in particular €100,000 for realignment works on the R312 Glenisland Road, €800,000 for improvements to the Cong Road as well as €30,000 for Bellanierin Bridge and €68,000 for Randell’s Bridge in Castlebar”.

“The ongoing economic recovery is allowing for greater investment in infrastructure and I am delighted that the 2017 allocation for Mayo has increased from €19 million to €20.4 million this year. This funding will allow Mayo County Council to plan ahead and decide their annual work programmes. Nationally, Government funding for 2017 represents a nine per cent increase on the 2016 allocation. The Government and I are determined to steadily and prudently manage the country’s finances, especially now, in the face of Brexit and to use the ongoing national recovery to reach each area in the country”.
