Woman stole groceries from Dunnes

A woman who stole a trolley load of groceries from Dunnes Store, Ballina, had her case adjourned in the district court to allow the probation services to make arrangements for suitable community service work.

Eunice Kelly (44 ), 8 Orchard Court, Ballina, admitted the charge of theft.

Garda Adrian Michael O’Shaughnessy said he was called to Dunnes on September 2 last when the theft was reported and CCTV footage was produced.

Kelly worked as a cleaner in Dunnes Stores.

She later returned groceries valued at €178 to the supermarket.

Solicitor for Kelly, John Gordon, said his client had a clean history, other than a road traffic offence relating to no insurance, which dated back to 2009. He said she had some health difficulties. This charge was very difficult for his client and had had a severe impact on her.

Judge Mary Devins adjourned the case to March 25.
