Ballyhaunis

Ballyhaunis Golf Club stableford results from December 23, sponsor David Murphy Painting Service Ballyhaunis, in the junior section first place was A Hickey, in the ladies’ first place was K Buckley, and in the gents’ first place was W Coyne and second D Walsh. The 2012 Masters winner was Pat Freeley.

Balla

Balla Golf Club results from weekend December 21 to 23 in the men’s section, first place Oliver Moran (40 points ), second place Martin Moylette (36 points ), third place Bernie O’Connor (33 points ). The junior winner was Dara Cawley on 35 points, and in the ladies’ section first was Mary Jo Cannon (34 points ), second Carmel Henry (32 points ), third Margaret Walsh (31 points, back nine ).

Balla Golf Club December 28 to 30 stableford men’s section first Oliver Moran (36 points ), second Bernie O'Connor (35 points ), third Frank Larkin (33 points, back nine ). Ladies’ section first Breege Walsh (36 points ), second Breege Moran (34 points ), third Marie Flanagan (32 points, back six ).

Winter League top three after round three John O'Connor and Nora Gibbons (130 points ), Jimmy Sheridan and Breege Moran (124 points ), John Parsons and Carmel Henry (124 points ).

Castlebar

The final competition of 2012 at Castlebar Golf Club was a festive mixed rumble played over the weekend of Saturday December 29 and Sunday December 30.

The winning team with an excellent score of 90 points was made up of Mary Molloy, Sheila Baynes, Frank Starken, and Jimmy Walsh. A superb score indeed in what were dreadful conditions.

The team of Donal O'Donoghue, Charlie Muldoon, John MacDonagh, and Martin Moylan took second prize with a great 88 points.

Jim McGovern, Frances O'Dowd, Ann McGovern, and Barry McGovern scored a great 86 points to take third prize.

Next weekend, Saturday January 5 and Sunday January 6 there is a club competition for members.

Claremorris

Results of the Christmas competition are as follows: First Eamonn Doherty (37 points ), second Noel Grier (34 points ), ladies’ nine hole Riana Kean (17 points, back six ).

Mulranny

Mulranny Golf Club is starting open weekends today, January 4. There will be 18 holes stableford open to ladies and gents which will count as qualifying competitions. You may play on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday and you must use your GUI/ILGU swipe card or number to record your scores. Entry is very reasonable at €15 for visitors or €5 for members. Competitions will continue during January and February.

Mulranny course is in excellent condition at this time of year and if the weather is anyway kind, then you will have a very enjoyable golfing experience.

Westport

Westport Golf Club Pro Shop Christmas raffle: First prize John Collins, second Mick McGovern, third Michael Cafferty, fourth Hugh Murphy, fifth Mick Cully, sixth Ciaran McGettigan, seventh Eugene Murtagh, eighth Bert Farrell, ninth Liam Campion, 10th Des Kelly. The gents’ winter league continues this weekend on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6.
