Six months after the world record breaking day the 11 climbers and their support team got to celebrate the magnificent achievement at Campbell’s Bar, Murrisk.

Back on July 1 and 2 more than 100 people were involved supporting the 11 climbers on the record attempt. The spirit generated by the support crew and supporters was of paramount importance during the bid and the task could not have been completed without them.

Just before 8pm on Saturday July 2, the remaining climbers arrived back down to the car park having broken the world record by nearly 1,100 metres. A few hundred supporters were there to welcome them.

The months of preparation and training had given them the opportunity to reach these unprecedented goals in aid of Mayo Mountain Rescue and the Red Cross.
