A man, who was arrested for drink driving after going out for a few drinks with his wife, was this week disqualified from driving for three years.
Ballina District Court heard that on July 25 at 7.50pm, gardaí stopped Vincent Barrett, Ballina Road, Foxford, following a report of erratic driving on the Foxford Road.
The defendant failed a roadside breath test and at the garda station he gave a breath sample which showed 88mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath.
The defendant was also not insured on his wife’s car which he was driving that day.
The retired man, who has a previous conviction, was convicted and fined a total of €1,000 by Judge Mary Devins and was disqualified from driving for three years.
