Woman in collision had no insurance

A Brazilian national who was involved in a traffic collision in Castlebar was disqualified from driving at Castlebar District Court this week, as the defendant did not have insurance.

On the afternoon of March 30, Garda John Melia was called to a two vehicle traffic collision at SuperValu, Castlebar.

Leila Matias Fialho, Patrick Street, Boyle, Co Roscommon, had no insurance displayed on the car and was asked to produce it at Boyle Garda station. A certificate of insurance was produced at the Garda station, however the policy had been cancelled in October of 2009.

The defendant, who has no previous convictions, was convicted and fined €500 and disqualified for one year by Judge Mary Devins.
