Bench warrant for man who broke pub window

A bench warrant was issued by Judge Mary Devins at Castlebar District Court on Wednesday for a Castlebar man who was charged with criminal damage to a window of a Castlebar pub.

John McHale, publican of McHale’s, Newline, said that on June 27 2009 at 3am he was in the bar watching TV when he heard a glass panel smash at the rear of the premises, where €187 worth of damage was caused. Mr McHale then heard footsteps on the roof and chased the culprit with whom he caught up at Davitt Terrace. David O’Brien, Windsor, Castlebar, was restrained by Mr McHale until the gardaí arrived.

As the defendant was not in court, nor represented, a bench warrant was issued for his appearance.
