Farmer disqualified from driving got behind the wheel

A 66-year-old farmer who drove while disqualified was further disqualified from driving for six years by Judge Mary Devins at Ballina District Court on Tuesday.

On January 11 2010 at 3.25pm Joe Ruddy, Ballyglass, Garranard PO, Ballina was stopped by gardaí as he drove in Garrauns, Garranard. The defendant had no insurance and was disqualified from driving in December 2008.

Solicitor Peter Loftus said that his client had fallen on ice and drove on that occasion as he wanted to get his fall medically assessed.

Judge Devins convicted and fined Ruddy a total of €1,500 and disqualified him from driving for six years.
