Large residential farm in Mayo seeks final offers

After considerable negotiations, joint agents Dermody auctioneers, Tuam, and Moran Auctioneers, Castlebar, have been instructed to seek final offers for the locally well-known 186 acre farm holding of the estate of the late Dick Ronaldson in Craggagh, Balla, Co Mayo.

“After a significant level of enquiry, and a strong number of interested parties, we are currently under offer in respect of the subject property and have been instructed by our clients to seek final offers,” Ian Dermody advised.

The land has more than 740 metres frontage to the main Balla to Kiltimagh road and is located within easy reach of Balla, Kiltimagh, Claremorris, and Castlebar towns. The local Craggagh national school and community centre are situated adjacent to the subject property.

The residence is of stone construction and is approached by a private driveway. The residence with ancillary outbuildings is in need of modernisation.

Approximately 100 acres of the lands are of good quality and are renowned for their fattening qualities. Another estimated 30 acres is in forestry, with the remainder being upland. The property has the benefit of Single Farm Payment and is being sold in one or more lots.

“It is extremely rare, in all my years as a practitioner in County Mayo, to have a farm of land of this quality and more particularly size come to the market,” said Brian Moran.

The block of land was guiding in the region of €1,000,000 open to offers, but it is understood that a number of offers have been received below this level. It is believed to be currently making in the region of €700,000. Negotiations are still continuing and the joint agents are hopeful of concluding a deal in the short term.
