Glenlo Abbey launches its March food and wine events

Glenlo Abbey Hotel and golf course has gained a stellar reputation for delicious food and five star service. Throughout March the hotel is offering two inspired special afternoon teas, plus a Celebration of Spring with a delightful six course tasting menu with wine pairings, from Febvre master of wine Noel McMahon.

On March 8, head chef Michael Safarik will create a six course, locally inspired, tasting menu with his contemporary-classic style and impeccably restrained elegance. The carefully crafted menu will use the best of seasonal ingredients with flair, inspired by the quality, artisan, ingredients of the west coast of Ireland. This will be a rare opportunity to meet the artist, as chef Michael Safarik with go through each of the ingredients behind each course and how they complement one another.

This delicious event will take place aboard the 2 AA-star Pullman Restaurant and the meal will be complemented by an extensive selection of wines, chosen by Febvre master of wine Noel McMahon. The six course tasting menu including wine pairings is €85 per person.

Make Mother’s Day extra special and spoil her with a fabulous afternoon tea in the elegant surroundings of the River Room. Afternoon tea in the River Room is an unashamed celebration of a more sedate time. A time when sitting and chatting or quietly enjoying a pause in the day was the rule rather than the exception. Enjoy a classic afternoon tea and choose from a dainty assortment freshly baked scones, seasonal sandwiches, and delicious pastries, macaroons, and cakes served with loose leaf tea, herbal tea selection, or freshly brewed coffee, available at €26 per person. Afternoon tea will be served on Mother's Day from 1pm to 5pm in the timeless elegance of the River Room Restaurant with an accompanying pianist. Booking is advised.

Hop along and enjoy an Easter afternoon tea from Friday March 30 to Monday April 2, served daily from 1pm to 5pm.

On Easter Sunday enjoy a special Easter themed afternoon tea in the elegant surroundings of the River Room Restaurant with the resident pianist playing a selection of firm favourites while you enjoy an assortment of savoury and sweet treats. Following afternoon tea, guests will enjoy a falconry show for all the family in the walled garden at 3pm. Cost is €26 per adult and €13.50 per child; Friday, Saturday, Monday, and Easter Sunday costs €31 per adult and €18.50 per child, including falconry show.
