Specsavers Headford Road, the place to go for all your eyecare needs

Having a health-related examination can be an unsettling prospect for some. At an eye test for example, people will often have worries that their sight is deteriorating and young children can sometimes be nervous about the whole examination process itself.

However, this is not a cause for concern when visiting Specsavers in Headford Road Shopping Centre. The family-friendly atmosphere is instantly apparent the minute you walk in the door and the well-trained staff are on hand to listen and help you with any queries you might have.

Cathy O’Boyle, one of the store directors, says, “We have a lot of focus on children’s examinations, because sometimes they find them a little daunting, so we give out stickers and goodie bags and they get a little certificate with their name on it as well when they get their glasses.”

Open since 2014, the store provides full eye examinations, hearing tests, dispenses glasses and supplies contact lenses. The knowledge and expertise of the staff at the branch are second to none. O’Boyle has a Masters in clinical visual science and has a degree in optometry from DIT Kevin St, as does her colleague Miriam Murphy.

The store also promotes Vision Aid Overseas, which teaches and trains optometrists abroad, and raises a lot of money for them. Several of the staff have been personally commended by Dame Mary Perkins, co-founder of Specsavers, for their excellent customer service.

“We try to make everyone as comfortable as possible when they come in and give customers the best possible service we can,” says fellow store director Annette Flanagan. “We have a nice, small, intimate practice here and we tend to be able to spend more time with our patients.”

So, if you are due an eye or hearing test and are unsure of where to go, look no further than Specsavers on Headford Road.
