Trial date set over death of Connemara man in Perth

A plea of self-defence is expected to be given by a man who will face trial next May in relation to the killing a Connemara man in Perth last December.

Abbas Al Jrood (22 ) is charged with the mansalughter of 23-year-old Thomas Keaney from Murvey in Roundstone. Mr Keaney had been working in a bar in Perth, Australia, and died in hospital, a fortnight after receiving a blow to the head in the Northbridge area of the city, on December 17, 2013.

Jrood was subsequently arrested in relation to the assault and will go on trial on May 11 next year.
