Hats off to style
Corofin milliner Caithriona King is turning a lot of heads with her stylish hats and head pieces.
The fine art graduate of Waterford Institute of Technology undertook various courses in millinery in London and Ireland before beginning to create her own pieces for her wedding in 2003.
At the time she was looking for something a little different to wear but found it difficult so she decided to put her talent to use. Following that she began making head pieces for weddings and was soon being approached on a regular basis to design bespoke pieces for people from around the country.
The pieces are beautifully crafted with elegant design and exquisite detailing. She is currently working on her summer collection for the race season and is putting together some nautical themes to tie in with the Volvo Ocean Race finale.
During a consultation with Ms King she assesses which style or design best complements people’s outfits and figures. She dyes her pieces, if necessary, to ensure they pick up the exact shade required.
