Twilight Cinders will colour our autumn palette
A subtle and sophisticated autumnal violet is forecast to feature in homes this autumn — Dulux’s Twilight Cinders is an honest shade of great depth, which takes its inspiration from wild flowers and juicy berries. The colour incorporates the trend towards violets in deeper, richer shades and a need for colours which give a mellow, honest and relaxing hue.
Twilight Cinders features hints of lavender in the shade, making it feel like a very warm grey. Grey whites have taken main stage from yellow whites and many find them far easier to live with. With the rise in popularity of taupes, Twilight Cinders 5 is a pleasant alternative to beige and will work well as a neutraliser for other colours. The shade is the perfect all-round colour and can be used throughout the home; as a very calming hue in the bedroom, or as the perfect neutral setting for hanging pictures in a living room.
So how do you achieve the look? Autumnal berry colours work wonderfully when it comes to creating cozy evening meals in the home, especially in the dining room. According to Dulux colour consultant Sinead Kelly, Twilight Cinders works well for both a casual family and sophisticated entertaining. “Pairing Twilight Cinders 1 with the juicy fruit tone of Summer Surprise 1 in a dining room makes for a deliciously simple harmonising combination,” she said. “Though this palette is bold, it takes its inspiration from nature, so delivers a relaxed and laid-back feel, which is ideal for family life or entertaining.”
When it comes to the bedroom the look is mellow. “You can create a breath of fresh air by pairing Twilight Cinders 1 with a dusty greyed-off violet and accent with crisp sky blue and warm coral,” Ms Kelly suggested. “Potters Clay 2 on the walls lends a wonderful understated softness to the room. The deep damson of Twilight Cinders 1, used to paint the Tromp L’oeil headboard, adds the perfect amount of quirky depth and creates a dramatic centrepiece.”
