Market stall at Moycullen is the best in Ireland

The Flying Cheese Brigade, stallholders at the Moycullen Farmers’ Market every Friday, have been named the Best Market Stall of the Year 2011.

Co Clare’s Daniel and Helen Goormans of The Flying Cheese Brigade won the award which is organised by the Irish Organisation for Market and Street Traders, a membership organisation for market and street traders in Ireland.

Daniel and Helen Goormans, originally from Antwerp in Belgium, sell their own cheese, pate and jams, as well as importing cheeses directly from cheese producers all over Europe. The couple attend the Moycullen market on Fridays, Limerick Milk Market on Saturdays, Killaloe farmers market on Sundays and Oranmore market on Thursdays. The Flying Cheese Brigade carries more than 65 different cheese varieties.

IOMST launched its first Best Market Stall of the Year and free stall makeover competition this year to reward stallholders for their efforts in market and street trading around the country.

The Goormans says their business began as a hobby before they decided to develop it further.
