One woman dead, one injured, in separate road accidents

A woman lost her life and another woman was seriously injured in two separate road accidents in Galway this week.

Dympna Kenny Folan (36 ), died when her car was involved in a collision with a bus at Rosshill, Roscam, on Monday morning. Ms Kenny Folan’s car and the bus, which was travelling towards the city, collided at the junction of the Rosshill road and the Coast Road at 10.35am. Ms Kenny Folan, a married mother of three children, was the sole occupant of the car. It is understood she was killed instantly in the collision.

Ms Kenny Folan, a native of Eyrecourt who had lived in Mervue for some years, will be buried this morning (Thursday ).

Meanwhile a 25-year-old woman was seriously injured in a single vehicle collision at Ballydonnellan, Corrandulla, at around 3.30am on Sunday. The woman, who was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, was transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin following the crash.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed either of these accidents to contact Galway Garda Station at (091 ) 538000.
