The 1916 Rising is a pivotal turning point in Irish history, setting in train a series of events which culminated in Irish independence in 1921.

The reasons for the Rising, its effects and aftermath have been much studied and debated by historians. Given its significance in 20th century Irish history and the fact that the centenary is just five years away, it remains a subject that is important to know about.

In this talk he draws from books, newspaper articles, and documentaries, to provide a comprehensive overview of the rebellion.
