Red Barn colour scheme helps nursing home clients

The Red Barn in Briarhill Business Park is always evolving and coming up with new ways and ideas to transform homes and improve upon ways of decorating, painting, and window dressings. The crew recently undertook a renovation to a nursing home, where the owner wanted the rooms updated and modernised but had to conform to standards and be very functional, with of course cleaniness and comfort a high priority.

When they went to visit the home and discuss the project in detail, Red Barn staff came up with the idea to capitalise on the fact that Alzheimer’s patients respond to colour to help them to remember things, such as recognising where they sat by the colour of the chair.

They then decided to put different colours on the doors of the bedrooms of these patients, for instance, red for the bathroom, green for the bedroom door, and blue for the wardrobe.

It has worked very well for these patients and has helped them to find their way around much better, rather than everything being the same colour. Also the room looks bright and cheerful.

Red Barn also stocks eco friendly paints from the Little Green Paint Company.

Furniture can be made to suit the room and the budget, detail is very important to the company and its customers, and details can make all the difference when you are trying to make someone comfortable. Not all rooms have the same requirements so this should be considered when designing the room, whether is is for a nursing home resident or a teenager.

Red Barn staff are available for any makeovers or renovations for hotels and nursing homes. Contact Red Barn Interiors, 27 Briarhill Business Park, Galway, at (091 ) 764788.
