Stammering Association self help group
The Irish Stammering Association's Galway self help group is due to meet again in December. The group provides opportunities for people who stutter to discuss issues around their stammering, as well as providing mutual support. Many people who have attended groups have found them to be very helpful in feeling more comfortable with their stammering.
One group member said, “The group challenges me to engage in difficult speech situations. It empowers one’s confidence and self-esteem, making it easier to face difficult speech situations whereas formerly I would have avoided them."
As this is the final meeting of 2009, The Irish Stammering Association wishes all its members the compliments of the season, and look forward to seeing them at the next meeting on Tuesday December 1 at 8pm in the Radisson Hotel.
