The Village Care Centre launches flood support scheme

Galway Advertiser, November 26, 2009.

By Richie Mccarthy

The Village Nursing Care Centre announced this week a flood support scheme for older people in the local community. Having recently launched a Home Care Service, The Village Care Centre will offer free home care packages to suitable candidates over the coming fortnight. The service will offer three two hourly visits per week for the next two weeks.

In addition to the home care service offer, The Village Care Centre can extend day care places to a number of people affected by the flooding. The day care service will offer the successful applicant the opportunity to socialise with staff and residents of The Village Care Centre, while also receiving freshly prepared meals and benefiting from the use of the care centre facilities.

The recently launched Home Care Service provides a variety of services from companionship to personal hygiene, all provided by a care team who have been carefully selected and will be regularly audited by qualified care supervisors. The Village Care Centre has built a reputation for quality care and exacting standards which will be carried through to the provision of the Home Care Service.

Day care at The Village Care Centre offers a substitute solution for carers while also offering an alternative social outlet to the day visitor. Day visitors can avail of the hair dressing salon, play cards in the wine bar or receive a free physiotherapy assessment. Reduced price occupational therapy and physiotherapy treatments are also available to day visitors.

Speaking about the scheme, general manager Martin Aherne commented: “The recent flooding has had a major impact on many communities in the county, and we are offering this scheme in order to help a number of older people in the community who have been isolated or affected by the recent weather conditions.”

In order to have your neighbour, friend or family member considered for this free scheme simply email info@thevillagecare.ie with their details by 5pm this Friday. The successful applicants will be informed on Friday evening and individual care arrangements will be agreed. Numbers are limited to act quickly.

The Village Care Centre is a modern purpose built care centre located near the towns of Oranmore, Craughwell and Clarinbridge. Care is provided for long term, short term, convalescence, day care and home care patients. For more information call 091 77 77 00, email info@thevillagecare.ie or visit www.thevillagecare.ie
