“I’m a bogman, deep down, it’s where I come from,” sang Luka Bloom on his song ‘I’m A Bogman’, but just what makes this special relationship between people and Irish landscape?
An Portach, a new documentary to be shown this Sunday on TG4, will seek to answer this question.
The programme chronicles the experience of various Connemara residents who derive fulfilment from the bogs for all sorts of reasons - turf-cutting, moorland walking, poetry, and painting.
This is an intimate journey into the lives of various people and their relationship to the Connemara bogs. An Portach is produced by Hawkeye Films.
