Meteor announced in Galway yesterday the launch of its new 14.4 Mbps 3G high speed data network. It also introduced the new Huawei E182 broadband to go device, the first operator in the country to do so.

Commenting on the launch, Elaine Robinson, director of advanced product development, said: “This is another first for Meteor. Meteor is the first operator to bring the Huawei E182, the latest broadband to-go device, to the Irish market and it’s a first for Galway too as Meteor customers here get to avail of our 14.4 Mbps capable high speed data network. Since our 3G network launch earlier this year, we have been committed to providing our customers with the very best blend of technology and cost.”

She added: “We have now rolled out our high speed data network, one of the best in western Europe, to three cities and 19 towns across the country and we look forward to continuing this rollout to the remaining cities and major towns countrywide by the end of this year, followed by nationwide coverage”.

The E182 offers double the speed compared to other devices on the market. The slide USB stick allows you double your data capacity, is ideal for high frequency users and is now available to buy in Meteor’s three stores in Galway from just €49.

Following Meteor’s initial launch in Dublin and Cork city, Meteor’s 3G high speed data network is now available in: Dublin and greater Dublin area, Cork city and county, Galway city, Arklow, Enniscorthy, Maynooth, Bettystown, Gorey, Mullingar, Bray, Greystones, Naas, Cahir, Kilcullen, Newbridge, Drogheda, Kilkenny Town, Portlaoise, Dundalk, Letterkenny, Wexford town, and Enfield. Meteor will continue to deploy its high speed network to the remaining cities and major towns countrywide by the end of this year, followed by nationwide coverage
