New series of Irish language Bible storybooks to be launched

The first Bibles in the Irish language were seen in the 16th century, produced by the English, seeking to covert Ireland to the new Protestant religion.
Next week a new way of presenting the Bible as Gaeilge will be launched when Lorlum, a new publishing house based in Connemara, launch a series of 25 beautifully illustrated Bible stories in Irish.
The launch will take place in Seanscoil Shailearna, Indreabhán, on Friday October 23 at 7pm. The series is aimed at children aged between five and nine and are written in rhyming verse by Fearghas MacLochlainn.
Special guest speakers at the launch will be Rev Brendan Kelly and Rev Gary Hastings. There will also be music from An Spidéal’s Cór na nÓg and readings of the Bible stories by Sharon Ní Bheoláin, Fearghas MacLochlainn, Aisling Ní Neachtain, and Éanna Ó Beoláin. RnaG’s Bernie Ní Chuinn will be MC for the evening.
Individual books are being sold at €2.49 each, while the full set of 25 cost €50 and come with a free CD featuring all 25 stories.
