Mervue United welcome Lucan United to Fahy's Field this Saturday afternoon.
Brendan O'Connor's side sit joint-top of their group, albeit having played one game more than the other four Group 1 teams. Level on seven points with Home Farm DCU, Lucan United are in third place just one point behind.
Mervue went into last weekend's encounter with Bonagee United looking to bounce back from a bruising 4-0 defeat to Home Farm DCU. Bounce back they did, as they defeated the Donegal outfit 2-1 at Fahy's Field thanks to first-half goals from Aaron Neary and Donnacha McNamara.
The Galway side flew out the traps as Neary latched on to a Lewis Warweru pass to fire an early goal as Mervue took the lead after five minutes. Neary then turned provider as he slipped McNamara in to coolly slot past the Bonagee 'keeper and make it 2-0 in the 21st minute.
Those early first-half goals were enough to secure the three points despite Gary Merritt pulling a goal back for the visitors just before the break. It ensured a second win of the season for Brendan O'Connor's side.
Lucan United arrive at Fahy Field off the back of two wins on the trot. Their other result was a 2-1 loss at home to Mervue on September 5.
A repeat of that result would do nicely for the men from Mervue. Kick-off is 3pm at Fahy's Field this Saturday.
