A little taste of Galway has arrived at one of Ireland’s most celebrated destinations, as Wild Churn Gelato is named the gelato of choice at Mrs Tea’s Boutique and Bakery at Ashford Castle.
Founded by Galway entrepreneur Ronan Galvin, Wild Churn has been creating a stir since launching earlier this year. Its authentic, small-batch gelato is produced in Athenry using traditional Italian techniques, quality ingredients and plenty of imagination.
The partnership with Ashford Castle marks a big moment for the growing Galway brand and places Wild Churn in front of visitors from Ireland and across the world.
“Having Wild Churn selected for Mrs Tea’s at Ashford Castle is an incredibly proud moment for us,” says Galvin.
“Ashford Castle is recognised around the world for quality and exceptional hospitality. To see our locally produced gelato being served there is a wonderful endorsement of what we are creating and an important step as we continue to grow Wild Churn.”
The announcement comes as Wild Churn unveils an autumn collection designed to prove that gelato deserves a place on the menu long after summer has ended.
The new flavours include Strawberry Matcha Gelato, swirling sweet strawberry through an earthy matcha base, and Apple Strudel and Cinnamon Swirl Gelato, blending chunky apple jam, ground cinnamon and a delicious cinnamon sauce. Sea Salt Caramel and Sunflower Gelato combines smooth, lightly salted caramel with crunchy roasted sunflower seeds, while Plum and Orange Sorbet brings together ripe plum purée and a bright, refreshing orange sorbet base.
Produced in Athenry and served at The Creamery in Salthill, Wild Churn’s arrival at Mrs Tea’s is another exciting chapter for the homegrown business — and a delicious opportunity for Ashford Castle visitors to discover gelato made in the West of Ireland.
