With the first round of CAO offers issued on August 26, University of Galway has made over 4,000 offers to prospective undergraduate students for the upcoming academic year.
Professor David Burn, President of the University of Galway, congratulates students on finishing the Leaving Certificate and taking the next step in their education.
“University is a time to learn, to challenge yourself, to make new friends and to discover new opportunities,” says Burns.
“We look forward to supporting our new students throughout their time with us and providing them with an excellent education and opportunities and the very best student experience and campus in the country.”
He also acknowledges his colleagues across the university who work to ensure students receive offers, orientation, and a warm welcome to their journey at the college.
The University expects over 3,800 students to register to begin undergraduate studies in September.
Several courses, including Pharmacy (MPharm ), have increased intake due to demand. BSc Zoology, launching this year, is expected to enroll 40 students.
Twenty five university courses increased points this year, meaning half of all courses offered cut off at 500.
Courses with increased points include those offering Gaeilge; creative arts programmes; science majors (such as Ocean Sciences and Biotechnology ); and Nursing and Midwifery.
