A special community fundraising event in aid of the Croí Stroke Rehabilitation Unit will take place next week in Galway, bringing together jockeys, trainers, sporting personalities and local musicians for an afternoon of entertainment, health awareness and fundraising.
Organised by John and Mary Butler, the event will be held on Tuesday next, July 28, from 12 noon to 1.30pm, at John Butler Sports Therapy Clinic at 4B Liosban Retail Centre, Tuam Road, Galway (H91 NFT7 ).
The fundraiser aims to raise vital funds for Croí, with every euro donated going directly towards supporting the charity’s Stroke Rehabilitation Unit and its work helping people recover from stroke and improve their quality of life.
A packed programme of activities has been planned for the event, with the Croí Health Team providing free rapid health checks, including blood pressure and pulse checks, giving members of the public an opportunity to monitor their heart health while supporting a worthy cause.
There will also be plenty of entertainment throughout the afternoon. Jockeys, trainers and members of the racing media will put their skills to the test on a horse simulator, while local sporting stars and well-known musicians are also expected to attend. Visitors can enjoy tea, coffee, refreshments and ice cream, with spot prizes on offer during the event.
For racing enthusiasts, experienced jockeys and trainers will also be on hand to help racegoers mark their cards with selections for the day’s racing, adding another unique attraction to the fundraiser.
Organiser Mary Butler said the event is about bringing the community together to support a charity that makes a real difference to the lives of stroke survivors and their families.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone on the day. Whether you come along for a health check, to meet some of the sporting and racing personalities, or simply to enjoy the atmosphere, every donation will help support the fantastic work carried out by Croí,” she said.
