Moyne Villa Playground has received a series of upgrades and repairs in recent weeks, thanks to a combination of grant funding and local support.

The works were made possible through LEADER funding administered by Galway Rural Development, with matching funding provided by Moyne Villa. Additional support for the playground’s ongoing maintenance has come from grants, the Moyne Villa fund and contributions from Headfest.

A new inclusive swing has also been installed at the playground, funded by local councillor Andrew Reddington.

Speaking about the project, Cllr Reddington said he was delighted to support the installation of the accessibility swing and praised the efforts of the club committee and volunteers behind the wider restoration works.

“I was very happy to fund the installation of an inclusive swing at Moyne Villa Playground, which also supports the LEADER funding the club received. However, I want to acknowledge the work the club does here, as playgrounds are expensive to maintain, and I know the club will still have to significantly back the restoration project. Well done to the committee and those working in the background on all these projects,” he said.

The playground is currently closed to allow building works to upgrade the small astro and access improvements to be completed but is expected to reopen next week.
