Young man ordered to hawk his CV around Tuam

A young Tuam man was ordered by a Judge at the local Court to hawk his CV around to every business in the town seeking work, and to come back before the Court again with proof that he had done so.

Scott Skinner, Church View, Tuam is charged with being drunk in public. At an earlier sitting Judge James Faughnan demanded to know why a healthy young person like Skinner was not gainfully employed at a time when there was supposed to be full employment.

When his case was called again on Tuesday (May 12 ) the Judge asked Garda Sgt Christy Brown to check out the defendant’s claim that he had singed up with an employment app.

Sgt Brown after checking Skinner’s phone said he saw evidence of 12 or 13 applications online, but he couldn’t vouch for any follow through.

Skinner said he had worked as a labourer, roofer and in a pub in Dingle.

Judge Faughnan said there was any amount of work out there for anyone who was willing to do it. He told Skinner to drop his CV into businesses around Tuam and to come back before him with the responses and any copy of emails he received, and adjourned sentencing on the public order charge until this was done.
