Locals invited to share stories and shape climate responses

Galway’s coastline is changing, and the people who live closest to it are seeing the effects every day.

From Salthill to Silverstrand and Barna, residents are seeing shifting sands, stronger storms, and coastal places that look different each season. These local observations are essential to shaping meaningful climate responses.

The University of Galway invites residents to the 'Silverstrand: Locally-Grounded Climate Responses Community Workshop', an event designed to bring neighbours together to share, reflect and connect. The workshop offers a space to share your thoughts on the changing coastline and connect with others who care about the future of Galway’s shores. Whether you swim, walk, fish, run a business or simply enjoy being by the sea, your perspective is valued.

This event is part of Localised Adaptation for Climate Change in Ireland and Timor-Leste, a research project exploring how community experience and local knowledge can guide effective coastal climate action.
