Galway's senior ladies footballers take on Cork in the Lidl National Football League Division 1 final at TUS Gaelic Grounds in Limerick this Saturday, April 11.

It is a repeat of last season's Division 2 final in which Galway reigned victorious at Croke Park. Goals from Lynsey Noone and player-of-the-match Roisin Leonard secured a 2-8 to 1-5 victory.

However, it was Cork who got the better of the Tribeswomen in the last encounter between the two sides. Aine O'Sullivan's goal proved decisive at Páirc Uí Rinn in their NFL Division 1 clash on February 1. The Rebels ran out 1-10 to 2-5 winners to give Galway their first loss of the league campaign.

Galway recorded their second defeat of the campaign on the final day away to Waterford. Daniel Moynihan rung the changes as a much changed starting team lost by 2-12 to 0-10. His side still gave a good account of themselves, with fringe and returning players gaining valuable minutes.

Cork also lost their last game of the league phase away to Dublin at Parnell Park. It was Cork's only loss of the campaign as they fell to the Dubs on a scoreline of 2-8 to 1-6.

The Tribeswomen will be full of confidence heading into Saturday's decider. They have been a joy to watch, particularly going forward. If Moynihan's charges are to lift silverware at full-time this Saturday, the Galway forward line will no doubt have proved pivotal.

The defeat to Cork in early February was probably Galway's poorest performance of the campaign. They will have to be on it from the off on Saturday.

Throw-in for this potential thriller is 5pm at TUS Gaelic Grounds in Limerick on Saturday, April 11.
