Maree host Titans BC in an all-Galway National League Division 1 play-off semi-final at Calasanctius College in Oranmore this Saturday.
Maree came from behind in the final quarter of their thrilling quarter-final play-off at home to Carrick Cruisers last weekend. Jason Killeen's side defeated the Monaghan outfit 75-69 at Calasanctius College last Saturday evening.
Titans defied the odds to beat #1 seed Dublin Lions in Clondalkin in their quarter-final play-off. The Galway side arrived to the capital as massive underdogs, but a number big performances from their key players ensured a shock 82-78 victory to set up a Galway derby in the play-off semi-finals.
Maree will be favourites going into Saturday's semi-final, but doubt Titans at your peril. Titans are off the back of a four-game winning streak with momentum and confidence driving them forward.
Maree, on the other hand, have been the more consistent performers this campaign. Finishing second in the southern conference and fourth overall with 15 wins from 22 games. Titans ended the campaign fourth in the southern conference and eighth overall.
However, Titans will take confidence from the fact they came out on top in the previous meeting between the two sides on December 12. But, a month earlier, Maree dismantled Titans 104-68 in their first encounter of the campaign.
This one might just be too close to call.
Tip-off for this hugely intriguing contest is 7pm at Calasanctius College.
