Hotel chef allegedly battered in kitchen

THE case against a man accused of entering the House Hotel and assaulting a chef working there will be heard at Galway District Court on March 22 next.

At a sitting of the Court last week, Judge John King was told that it will be alleged the defendant entered the hotel via an emergency exit at 3pm on May 30 last and assaulted the chef while he was at work in the kitchen.

It is understood the two knew each other. CCTV covering the entrance will be produced in evidence but there was no CCTV covering the area where the alleged assault took place.

The injured party alleged he was struck six to seven times in the face and then kneed three times in the groin. He said he suffered pain to the face and groin as a result but did not seek medical attention.

The Court was told that there would be no medical report or photographs presented as evidence but the injured party still had pain in the groin area.

Judge King accepted jurisdiction and adjourned matters until the March date.
