Embrace the Spirit of Christmas at Galway Cathedral’s live Crib event from next week

Galway Cathedral is delighted to announce the return of its much anticipated Live Crib on Thursday next December 14, inviting visitors from 11:30am to 4:00 pm to immerse themselves in the true spirit of the Christmas season.

A cherished tradition in the city for numerous years, the Live Crib event showcases a life sized representation of the traditional Bethlehem nativity scene, complemented by the presence of real farm animals. Cathedral parishioners assume the roles of Mary, Joseph, Jesus and the sheperds, while choirs from local schools serenade the day with Christmas carols.

Msgr Peter Rabbitte of Galway Cathedral said that “in the midst of wintry gloom, the crib and its profound symbolism affirm life, illuminate our surroundings, and instill hope in the hearts of the people of good will throughout our city, dioceses and beyond.”

Fr John Gerard Acton echoed the sentiments, said they “eagerly anticipate the arrival of individuals of all ages and faiths to partake in the sights, sounds and scents of that inaugural Christmas night.”

The Cathedral Live Crib event will be situated just outside the Salmon Weir Bridge door, offering free admission to all who wish to partake in this heart-warming experience.
