CPO specialist to act for householders affected by Galway City Outer By Pass project

Considered the leading expert in the West of Ireland on Compulsory Purchase Orders and Compensation (CPOs ), city businessman Ronan Rooney will be representing a select number of landowners on the new Galway City Outer By Pass project (Galway City Transport Project ).

Traditionally acting on behalf of the State and councils, Mr Rooney has confirmed that he will instead be acting on a number of select cases for some of the property owners affected concentrating on Commercial Business Property, severely affected Residential Homes and development lands.

He is renowned throughout the country as a leading CPO expert and property arbitrator with vast experience in CPO Compensation cases. He has acted for Galway City Council, Galway County Council for over 25 years. He has also acted for Sligo County Council and Donegal County Council in recent years.

He is currently completing the N59 Moycullen Bypass and N67 Kinvara road scheme on behalf of Galway County Council as well as the N56 Glenties Donegal scheme on behalf of Donegal County Council but will now focus on the property owners for the Galway City Transport project.

Having previously acted on behalf of Galway County Council in respect of Phase 1 of the Galway City Outer By Pass, he has a wealth of knowledge and experience of the project and structures for dealing with the Council and council appointed valuers. The number of cases he has acted on run into the thousands.

His expertise was well established in Phase 1 of the N6 Galway City Outer By pass where some of the cases ran into the tens of millions, many of which went to arbitration hearings and during which he was cross examined for days by some of the leading barristers in the country.

He has been on the Law Society of Ireland and the Society of Chartered Surveyors panel of recommended Property Arbitrators for over 10 years and specialises in arbitration and property disputes in CPOs and landlord and tenant issues.

His advice to those affected by the scheme is to beware of firms from around the country seeking to be retained by them to act on their behalf who are making false unfounded promises in relation to compensation.

Having worked in this specialised area for over 25 years in his own capacity and working with his predecessor and father Ray Rooney for 15 years prior to that in CPOs he understands the legislation and parameters within which compensation is assessed. Add to this the invaluable experience of working on the side of the Council and all in all property owners who fit the remit will be well represented by Rooneys.

If your case is within this remit, a Commercial Business Property, Residential Home or Development land affected by the scheme then contact Ronan in confidence on [email protected].
