Get the lowdown on starting your own food business

Thinking of starting your own food business or in the early stages of establishing one? Then give yourself a headstart on the competition by signing up to a mentoring and tutoring programme over four weeks at the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon.

There are only a few places left on the programme which runs on the four Mondays in September from 6.30pm to 9.30pm at the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon.

The programme is aimed at people thinking of starting their own food business or in the early stages of start-up, including those who are hoping to progress their food hobby into a sustainable business.

On successful completion, participants should have a sound knowledge of the rudiments of food business start-up and be in a position to go about their start-up in an effective way. The programme will allow them to fully understand the legal requirements and consider the costs associated with setting up such a business. It will cover areas such as understanding the Irish food sector including artisan; minimum requirements for food safety, labelling, insurance, and costs involved; how to build your pricing model; how to manage the brand design process; and deciding on your route to market. Local examples and case studies where relevant will be used to bring the course to life and make it more relevant for course participants.

The programme will consist of four half-days and a one-to-one follow-up mentor session of two-hour duration per participant, on September 4, 11, 18, and 25.
