Enjoy pints and points at The Snug this week

With the rugby world cup well underway, it’s time to watch the points stack up and the pints go down at The Snug this coming weekend! And of course there’s plenty of live music action to catch between sporting events too.

On Thursday evening, September 24, check out Shane and Jay from Edenderry - they play a bit of everything, so you can’t be disappointed!

Buckeye play on Friday, September 25. If you haven’t heard them before, they’re a lively vibrant four-piece band of Athlone-based musicians who play a wide variety of s, including rock, blues, bluegrass, folk, reggae, traditional, funk, and pop. The signature sound of the band comes from the banjo playing of John Shanagher  and the vocal harmonies from all members of the band. The other members are Daniel Dempsey (bass, guitar, and vocals ), Mark Ryan (guitar, bass and vocals ) and Paul Shanagher (drums and harmonica ).

Saturday, September 26 from 10pm sees The Late Greats on stage. The Late Greats are an energetic duo from Mullingar, playing a wide range of material. Their set list spans six decades of great music with a variety of hits that will satisfy all tastes. Their exceptional vocal harmonies always receive  great applause. They never fail to create a great night at The Snug Bar. The resident DJ will be setting the mood in the beer garden.

Don’t miss the unbeatable atmosphere on Snug Sunday for the Ireland v Romania Rugby World Cup match, with kick-off 4.30pm.

This will be followed by great local band Macey South at 7pm. This band’s energy is comparable to the Pogues and Horslips whilst drawing influences from a variety of genres. They are followed by the Amazing Apples at 9pm. This famous five-piece multi-instrumentalist folk/rock band from Galway. The Amazing Apples have established themselves as one of the hardest-working acts on the Irish live music circuit, playing with Damien Dempsey, Ryan Sheridan, Mundy, Walking on Cars and Little Green Cars.
